A note from the director

Acts of Matter is more than a performance group. It is an ideology. A belief in the ability of movement to move people—to stir in them something innately human: the need to find connection. Acts of Matter was founded out of a desire to bring a collective of artists together to make work that fosters connection: between artists and audiences, between the subconscious and the conscious parts of our selves. It has grown to be a research platform on stage and off where artists can foster deep listening and connect with other curious movers and thinkers. As we approach a decade of work together, I am humbled by what we’ve created. Thank you to everyone who has been a part of our collective evolution.

— Rebecca Lemme, Founder + Artistic Director
